I have been interested in photography since I got my first Pentax P30 film SLR almost 30 years ago. I’ve had a number of small snapshot cameras over the years but I have now rediscovered the beauty of photography after purchasing a new K-R Pentax DSLR late last year.

I found out about the Casey Camera Club near home and joined in February 2014, together with my daughter, and we have both enjoyed meeting a lot of wonderful people at the field trips and judging nights. Some early morning trips have proven to be worthwhile when unveiling the photos in the computer at the end of the trips.

Before joining the club I was just a snapshot photographer but after seeing some of the magnificent work presented at the comps and on Facebook, as well as talking to some club members, I have learnt a lot about lighting and composition. The highlight of my photography is to have my family telling me that they love my photos as well as getting “Wow’s” from my teenage children’s friends, one of whom wants me to teach him photography. Who would have known.
